1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 751 1-3 In Memory 1-4 of 1-5 Leopoldo Muniz Jr. 1-6 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas and the citizens of 1-7 Starr County are deeply saddened by the loss of Leopoldo Muniz Jr., 1-8 who died February 1, 2000, at the age of 97; and 1-9 WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Rio Grande City, 1-10 Leopoldo Muniz was born September 13, 1902; Mr. Muniz served his 1-11 country faithfully during World War II; and 1-12 WHEREAS, His talent and ability apparent to many, Mr. Muniz 1-13 was appointed deputy county clerk of Starr County; he was also 1-14 concerned with promoting a spirit of friendship and cooperation 1-15 between Mexico and the United States, and for his efforts, he was 1-16 named International Ambassador of Goodwill in 1997 by Governor for 1-17 a Day Judith Zaffirini; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Respected for his many accomplishments and his civic 1-19 leadership, Mr. Muniz was named Grand Marshal of Rio Grande City's 1-20 Christmas Parade in 1992; four years later, his fellow citizens 1-21 honored Mr. Muniz again for his commitment to his community, 2-1 presenting him with a brass Texas Lone Star from Senator Zaffirini 2-2 on his 94th birthday; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Leopoldo Muniz leaves his family and friends many 2-4 treasured memories; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-6 77th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the family 2-7 of Leopoldo Muniz Jr.: his children, Alicia Muniz Schriedel, 2-8 Yolanda Muniz Garza, Dr. Leopoldo M.
