1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 752 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 1-4 congratulate Lanny Edwin Blaine on his upcoming retirement from 1-5 SAFECO Insurance after 36 years of exemplary leadership; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Lanny Blaine has held over 18 different job titles 1-7 during his long and varied career, and his employment opportunities 1-8 have led the Blaine family to live in nine different homes in all 1-9 four United States time zones; and 1-10 WHEREAS, For the past 20 years, Lanny Blaine has served 1-11 the SAFECO Insurance's Dallas Region, and his tenure with this 1-12 organization has indeed been distinguished; and 1-13 WHEREAS, As General Manager of the Dallas Region, Mr. Blaine 1-14 transformed the center from a small Texas outpost to a significant 1-15 profit center; a skilled leader and motivator, Lanny was able to 1-16 elicit loyalty and dedication from his 30 employees, many of whom 1-17 have gone on to become leaders within the company; and 1-18 WHEREAS, As a resident of the Dallas area for the past 1-19 two decades, Mr. Blaine has generously given of his time and 1-20 talent to numerous professional, social, and charitable 2-1 organizations and has served on the boards of directors for the 2-2 Texas Workers Compensation Facility and the Insurance Council of 2-3 Texas, a position he held for 18 years; he has also served as 2-4 chairman of Southwest Insurance Information Service; and 2-5 WHEREAS, His wife of 41 years, Joy, and his two children, 2-6 Scott and Stephanie, will enjoy spending more time with Lanny in 2-7 his retirement; a man with a loving family who has many hobbies 2-8 and interests, he will certainly have a rich and productive retired 2-9 life; now, therefore, be it 2-10 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-11 77th Legislature, hereby commend Lanny Edwin Blaine for his 2-12 36 years with SAFECO Insurance and for his 20 years with the 2-13 Dallas Region and extend him best wishes in his future endeavors; 2-14 and, be it further 2-15 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him 2-16 as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. 2-17 Ratliff 2-18 ______________________________________ 2-19 President of the Senate 2-20 I hereby certify that the above 2-21 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-22 on April 17, 2001. 2-23 ______________________________________ 2-24 Secretary of the Senate
