1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 757 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is extremely 1-4 proud to recognize Rodman Ricketts, who has recently been awarded 1-5 second place in the Joseph S. Rumbaugh Historical Oration Contest 1-6 by the Texas Society Sons of the American Revolution; and 1-7 WHEREAS, A participant in the March 11, 2001, contest in 1-8 Austin, Rodman distinguished himself as a bright, enthusiastic 1-9 young man highly inspired by the patriotism the speech was to 1-10 reflect; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Speeches were to relate the past to the present 1-12 with a focus on the perpetuation of the memory of the men who, 1-13 by their services or sacrifices during the war of the American 1-14 Revolution, achieved independence for this country; and 1-15 WHEREAS, In delivering his speech, this exemplary Lindale 1-16 High School student exhibited an extraordinary understanding of 1-17 the expectations of the contest as demonstrated by his second 1-18 place win, bringing honor to himself, his family, and his school; 1-19 and 1-20 WHEREAS, The accomplishments of this fine young man 2-1 are a source of pride for all Texans; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-3 77th Legislature, hereby commend Rodman Ricketts on his second 2-4 place finish in the Texas Society Sons of the American Revolution 2-5 Oratory Contest with all best wishes for the future; and, be it 2-6 further 2-7 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-8 Rodman as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-9 Cain 2-10 ______________________________________ 2-11 President of the Senate 2-12 I hereby certify that the above 2-13 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-14 on April 18, 2001. 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 Secretary of the Senate 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 Member, Texas Senate
