1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 772 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure 1-4 in recognizing Dr. Bobby Q. Lanier of Fort Worth, for his notable 1-5 contributions as President of the Tarrant County Medical Society; 1-6 and 1-7 WHEREAS, The 98th president of the society, Dr. Lanier is 1-8 the son of a schoolteacher and a union organizer; because of an 1-9 extended childhood illness, Bobby Lanier spent several years at 1-10 John Sealy Hospital in Galveston; and 1-11 WHEREAS, First attending public school in the seventh grade, 1-12 Bobby Lanier graduated from school as valedictorian; he also worked 1-13 diligently as a laboratory technician during high school; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Bobby Lanier attended Lamar University in Beaumont, 1-15 and he received his medical degree from The University of Texas 1-16 Medical Branch at Galveston; this dedicated doctor also completed 1-17 a pediatric residency; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Dr. Lanier and his lovely wife, Sandy, and their 1-19 two children moved to Fort Worth in 1977 after he had completed 1-20 military service with the United States Air Force; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Founding Fort Worth Allergy and Asthma Associates 2-1 in 1977, Dr. Lanier continued an active practice until 1997; the 2-2 distinguished physician continues in practice for the indigent and 2-3 the noninsured community; he also serves as medical director of 2-4 Lanier Education and Research Network; and 2-5 WHEREAS, President Elect of the American College of Allergy, 2-6 Asthma and Immunology, Dr. Lanier founded the Society of Principal 2-7 Investors, a professional society of physicians conducting Federal 2-8 Drug Administration pharmaceutical trials; and 2-9 WHEREAS, Dr. Lanier is a syndicated television correspondent 2-10 who appears in 72 television markets and is heard on over 250 radio 2-11 stations daily; he founded the National Association of Physician 2-12 Broadcasters; and 2-13 WHEREAS, A man of many talents, Dr. Lanier was honored in 2-14 1995 by the American Medical Association with the Education and 2-15 Research Foundations award for public communicators; and 2-16 WHEREAS, A dedicated computer hobbyist, Dr. Lanier currently 2-17 is the consultant for the American Medical Association for website 2-18 development and computer-related ethical issues; and 2-19 WHEREAS, The career of service of Dr. Bobby Lanier has 2-20 enhanced the medical care available in the Fort Worth metropolitan 2-21 area, and his devotion to the poor and uninsured is invaluable; 2-22 now, therefore, be it 2-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 3-1 77th Legislature, hereby congratulate Dr. Bobby Q.
