 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 783
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great
 1-4     pleasure in recognizing Carol R. West, who has been selected
 1-5     2001 Dallas Mother of the Year; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, The wife of Texas State Senator Royce West,
 1-7     Mrs. West is being honored at the 2001 Dallas Mother of the
 1-8     Year Luncheon along with two other women; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, A devoted mother, Carol West has taken an official
1-10     leave of absence from her career as a certified public accountant
1-11     to devote more of her time to the emotional, educational, and
1-12     spiritual development of her sons, Brandon and Roddrick; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Mrs. West is currently on leave from Associates
1-14     Corporation of North America, where she was promoted in 1988 to
1-15     Vice President of Corporate Audit; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Educated at Dillard University, Carol West graduated
1-17     in 1976 with a bachelor of arts degree in accounting; she was
1-18     awarded for having the highest accounting average; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Her loyalty and devotion to her family are well known,
1-20     and she is very involved with her immediate and extended family
1-21     in Texas and Louisiana; and
1-22           WHEREAS, Mrs. West has handled her role in the public eye with
1-23     great poise, dignity, and charm, and she is considered one of her
 2-1     husband's greatest assets; but it is in her role as mother that she
 2-2     truly excels; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, Beloved by all who know her, Carol West is most
 2-4     deserving of the award she has won; now, therefore, be it
 2-5           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-6     77th Legislature, hereby congratulate Carol R. West on her
 2-7     selection as 2001 Dallas Mother of the Year; and, be it further
 2-8           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
 2-9     as an expression of highest regard and esteem from the
2-10     Texas Senate.
