 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 792
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great
 1-4     pleasure in recognizing Home Depot on the grand opening of
 1-5     its 100th store location in Texas, The Colony Home Depot; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Home Depot is America's leading authority on
 1-7     home improvements and the number one improvement store in the
 1-8     State of Texas; since 1984, Home Depot has given countless Texans
 1-9     the tools and skills they need to improve, repair, upgrade, and
1-10     remodel their homes and property; and
1-11           WHEREAS, The company provides its customers valuable
1-12     opportunities to improve their skills through instructional
1-13     sessions known as Home Depot University; children across Texas
1-14     are also encouraged to build their first project in Home Depot
1-15     Kids Workshop classes; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Home Depot's commitment to excellent customer
1-17     service, knowledgeable and friendly store associates, and
1-18     free weekly how-to clinics have earned it overwhelming success
1-19     in a state where citizens prize warmth and hospitality; and
1-20           WHEREAS, With more than $1.27 billion in purchases from
1-21     Texas-based vendors and suppliers, 22,000 Texas associates,
1-22     and annual payroll and benefits for Texans totaling $375 million,
1-23     Home Depot has contributed greatly to the economic health of this
 2-1     state; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, A public-spirited company, Home Depot contributes
 2-3     more than $1 million annually in funds and product donations to
 2-4     Texas charities, and its associates log thousands of volunteer
 2-5     hours in their respective communities; additionally, Home Depot
 2-6     pays $222 million in tax revenues each year which is used to
 2-7     support local schools and infrastructure projects; and
 2-8           WHEREAS, A company that gives countless Texans the ability
 2-9     to improve their environment, strengthens local economies, and
2-10     encourages civic responsibility among its employees and patrons,
2-11     Home Depot has had a positive impact on the State of Texas and is
2-12     worthy of legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
2-13           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-14     77th Legislature, hereby recognize the many valuable
2-15     contributions Home Depot has made to the citizens of this
2-16     state and congratulate the company on the opening of its
2-17     100th Texas store; and, be it further
2-18           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a
2-19     memento of this important milestone in Home Depot's presence
2-20     in Texas.
