1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 796 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is extremely 1-4 proud to join the family and friends of Ray Lovelace in honoring 1-5 this beloved gentleman on the grand occasion of his 90th birthday; 1-6 and 1-7 WHEREAS, Born April 28, 1911, this native of Bonham, Texas, 1-8 attended public schools in the area and captained his high school 1-9 football team; bringing honor to himself and his family, this 1-10 Fannin County resident served his country during World War II as 1-11 a member of the United States Army and the United States Marine 1-12 Corps; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Returning from the war, the distinguished gentleman 1-14 entered the American Baking Institute in Chicago; opening his 1-15 first bakery in Bonham was the beginning of a successful business 1-16 career that led to subsequent bakeries being opened in Paris, 1-17 Sherman, and Dallas; and 1-18 WHEREAS, An active and vital member of his community, 1-19 Mr. Lovelace is a lifelong member of the Bonham Methodist Church, 1-20 and he has enjoyed sharing his God-given gift of song as a tenor 1-21 in the choir; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Possessing boundless energy, this 33rd degree 2-1 Mason and Shriner gives generously of his time to the Bonham 2-2 Constantine Masonic Lodge and has served as its Worshipful Master; 2-3 recognized for his dedication to all that being a Mason represents, 2-4 Mr. Lovelace was honored by his fellow lodge members with the 2-5 Golden Trowel Award; and 2-6 WHEREAS, Family and friends are gathering with Mr. Lovelace 2-7 on April 28, 2001, to celebrate the august occasion of his 90th 2-8 birthday, and it is indeed an honor for the Texas Senate to pay 2-9 tribute to him; now, therefore, be it 2-10 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-11 77th Legislature, hereby declare Ray Lovelace a treasured 2-12 citizen of his city and state and extend all best wishes for 2-13 a most enjoyable 90th birthday; and, be it further 2-14 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-15 Mr. Lovelace as a memento of this special day in his life. 2-16 Cain 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 President of the Senate 2-19 I hereby certify that the above 2-20 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-21 on April 23, 2001. 2-22 ______________________________________ 2-23 Secretary of the Senate 2-24 ______________________________________ 2-25 Member, Texas Senate
