 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 798
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
 1-4     express its unwavering support of the human spaceflight program,
 1-5     the Johnson Space Center, NASA, and aerospace technology companies
 1-6     across Texas on Space Day 2001; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, America's spaceflight program continues today in
 1-8     the spirit of discovery and learning that has been a catalyst for
 1-9     progress in our nation's history; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Space technology and research have yielded
1-11     significant benefits for society, improving the quality of
1-12     life for citizens of the world; and
1-13           WHEREAS, In addition to its important scientific and
1-14     technological discoveries, the American space program has
1-15     promoted international collaboration and cooperation; and
1-16           WHEREAS, The Johnson Space Center, which is responsible for
1-17     the Space Shuttle and International Space Station programs, is the
1-18     crown jewel of America's human spaceflight program; this estimable
1-19     institution will be overseeing any future human missions to the
1-20     moon and to Mars; and
1-21           WHEREAS, The people of Clear Lake and indeed all Texans are
1-22     enthusiastic supporters of the space program and are proud to be
1-23     home to the Johnson Space Center and NASA; now, therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-2     77th Legislature, hereby express its support of continued
 2-3     investment in NASA, the Johnson Space Center, their Space
 2-4     Shuttle, International Space Station, and aeronautic
 2-5     educational programs and in the aerospace industry as a
 2-6     whole; and, be it
 2-7           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas lend
 2-8     its full support to the development of plans for future human
 2-9     spaceflight missions back to the moon and to Mars; and, be it
2-10     further
2-11           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as
2-12     an expression of the esteem the Senate holds for aerospace
2-13     activities in Texas.
