1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 829 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 1-4 recognize Billie Hodnett, who is retiring after more than 41 1-5 years of loyal service with the Office of the Comptroller of 1-6 Public Accounts; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Billie joined the comptroller's office 1-8 October 21, 1959, and served as a clerk in the Store Tax Division; 1-9 she later transferred to the Electronic Data Processing Center and 1-10 worked in the basement of the State Capitol; as a data processor, 1-11 she entered data from paper documents to key punch cards; and 1-12 WHEREAS, In 1967, Billie became a tester for new equipment 1-13 and data entry programs after the comptroller's office began 1-14 using terminals with CRTs for data entry instead of key punch 1-15 cards; Billie became the tester for each new tax processing system 1-16 and taxpayer registration system installed in the office; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Billie became noted for her expertise in setting 1-18 up taxpayer accounts and making the appropriate number changes; 1-19 having participated in the development and testing of the number 1-20 change programs since 1975, Billie has a record as the most 1-21 knowledgeable technician in the taxpayer service area; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Billie has been recognized 2-1 for her superior organizational skills, her dependability, and 2-2 her accuracy; she has worked in the Data Processing, Tax Records, 2-3 Revenue Processing, Revenue Accounting, and Account Maintenance 2-4 divisions; and 2-5 WHEREAS, A talented and resourceful individual, Billie 2-6 has handled her responsibilities in the comptroller's office with 2-7 exceptional dedication; and 2-8 WHEREAS, A distinguished and exemplary lady, Billie Hodnett 2-9 is beloved and respected by her colleagues, and her presence in 2-10 the Office of the Comptroller of Public Accounts will be greatly 2-11 missed; now, therefore, be it 2-12 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-13 77th Legislature, hereby commend Billie Hodnett on her exceptional 2-14 career and on her many contributions to the comptroller's office 2-15 and to our state and extend to her best wishes for the retirement 2-16 years ahead; and, be it further 2-17 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-18 her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-19 Barrientos 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 President of the Senate 2-22 I hereby certify that the above 2-23 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-24 on April 27, 2001. 2-25 ______________________________________ 2-26 Secretary of the Senate 2-27 ______________________________________ 2-28 Member, Texas Senate
