1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 835 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the 1-4 employees at the Texas Education Agency in bidding farewell to 1-5 their colleague, Maria Elisa Hashemian, who will be retiring 1-6 April 30, 2001; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Elisa Hashemian is a native of Monterrey, 1-8 Nuevo Leon, Mexico; she is married to Mahmoud Hashemian, and 1-9 they have one daughter, Lilliana; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Elisa's work in the Divisions of Bilingual 1-11 Education, Accelerated Instruction, and Migrant Education has 1-12 been exceptional; in particular, her loyalty and dedication to 1-13 the Texas Migrant Education Program is truly noteworthy; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Most recently, Elisa Hashemian has taken a 1-15 leadership position in the Binational Migrant Education Program 1-16 as Assistant to the National Coordinator; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Upon leaving the Texas Education Agency, 1-18 Mrs. Hashemian will continue her work on behalf of bilingual 1-19 education, assuming a prominent role in the Binational Migrant 1-20 Education Program at the newly established Center for Migrant 2-1 Education Support at Southwest Texas State University; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Providing young persons with a quality education 2-3 is the key to producing informed, thoughtful, and well-rounded 2-4 adults; Mrs. Hashemian's efforts will help all young Texans have 2-5 the knowledge and skills to make positive contributions to society, 2-6 and the entire state will benefit from her excellent work; now, 2-7 therefore, be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-9 77th Legislature, hereby commend Maria Elisa Hashemian on her 2-10 exceptional work and wish her the best of luck in her new position; 2-11 and, be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-13 her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. 2-14 Barrientos 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 President of the Senate 2-17 I hereby certify that the above 2-18 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-19 on April 30, 2001. 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 Secretary of the Senate 2-22 ______________________________________ 2-23 Member, Texas Senate
