 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 874
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Texas Environmental Excellence Awards are being
 1-4     presented May 1, 2001, and this auspicious occasion provides a
 1-5     fitting opportunity to recognize the proud recipients of these
 1-6     prestigious accolades for their dedicated efforts to protect and
 1-7     conserve our state's natural resources; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Nominated by a blue ribbon committee and selected
 1-9     by the Office of the Governor and the Commissioners of the Texas
1-10     Natural Resource Conservation Commission, these award-winning
1-11     Texans involved in small and large businesses, government, and
1-12     individual citizenship have voluntarily endeavored to preserve
1-13     our state's natural resources by preventing pollution, minimizing
1-14     waste, conserving water, reducing energy consumption, and
1-15     protecting wildlife; and
1-16           WHEREAS, The 2001 Texas Environmental Excellence Awards
1-17     recipients include Rohm and Haas Texas, Inc., Bell Helicopter
1-18     Textron, Inc., DuPont-Victoria, Applied Sustainability, the Lower
1-19     Colorado River Authority, Texas Master Naturalists, San Antonio
1-20     Water System, the City of Baytown Parks and Recreation Department,
1-21     4empowerment.com, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department,
1-22     Jimmie D. Walker, and the youth organization "Don't Be Crude" of
1-23     Victoria; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, These winners are also sharing their knowledge,
 2-2     technology, and expertise to educate other Texans as to how they
 2-3     may protect the environment in their communities, and their
 2-4     leadership will prove vital in preserving our state's natural
 2-5     resources for future generations; now, therefore, be it
 2-6           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-7     77th Legislature, hereby recognize May 1, 2001, as Texas
 2-8     Environmental Excellence Awards Day at the State Capitol and
 2-9     commend the award recipients for their exemplary efforts on
2-10     behalf of the Lone Star State; and, be it further
2-11           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
2-12     prepared for the winners as an expression of high regard from
2-13     the Texas Senate.
