 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 941
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 1-4     citizens of Central Texas in recognizing Colonel David B. Hall,
 1-5     Cavalry, United States Army, on the occasion of his retirement
 1-6     on June 30, 2001; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, Colonel Hall began his career with the
 1-8     United States Army in 1972 as Lieutenant of Cavalry at
 1-9     Fort Hood, Texas; he advanced through the ranks while serving
1-10     at posts in Georgia, Virginia, Louisiana, California, Germany,
1-11     Korea, and the Philippines; and
1-12           WHEREAS, In 1998, after serving for three years as
1-13     Defense Attache to the Republic of the Philippines,
1-14     Colonel Hall returned to Texas, where he now commands the
1-15     largest garrison in the United States Army at Fort Hood; and
1-16           WHEREAS, While in Texas, Colonel Hall has been successful
1-17     in addressing issues affecting Fort Hood and the surrounding
1-18     area; his leadership has helped improve the local infrastructure,
1-19     and he has addressed many quality-of-life issues for the military
1-20     community and its neighbors in surrounding Texas communities; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Colonel Hall has also been instrumental in
1-22     expanding Fort Hood's military airfield, so that it might serve
 2-1     Central Texans as a commercial aviation facility; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, Texas has been fortunate to have such a
 2-3     distinguished gentleman as a resident of this state; when
 2-4     Colonel Hall retires on June 30, 2001, he leaves a legacy of
 2-5     civilian-military cooperation that will benefit Central Texans
 2-6     for generations to come; now, therefore, be it
 2-7           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-8     77th Legislature, hereby express sincere gratitude to
 2-9     Colonel David B. Hall for the exceptional service he has given
2-10     Texas and the nation as a member of the United States Army and
2-11     wish him best of luck in his retirement; and, be it further
2-12           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-13     him as an expression of deepest respect and appreciation from
2-14     the Texas Senate.
