1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 961 1-3 In Memory 1-4 of 1-5 Louis Albert Schreiner 1-6 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins citizens 1-7 across the state in mourning the death of Louis Albert Schreiner II, 1-8 who died April 13, 2001, at age 41; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Born October 4, 1959, Louie was a descendant of 1-10 a legendary Texas family; he was the great-grandchild of 1-11 Captain Charles Schreiner, the Texas ranger, merchant, banker, 1-12 and founder of the famous Y.O. Ranch; and 1-13 WHEREAS, A 1981 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, 1-14 Mr. Schreiner received a bachelor's degree in finance and then 1-15 obtained a degree from the Texas Christian University School of 1-16 Ranch Management; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Louie Schreiner, along with his three brothers, 1-18 operated the Y.O. Ranch, now a 50,000-acre ranch which accommodates 1-19 more than 50 different species of exotic wild animals, the largest 1-20 such collection in North America; and 1-21 WHEREAS, In his role as acting general manager of the 1-22 Y.O. Ranch, Louie Schreiner was able to become a leading figure 1-23 in the auction, hunting, and private sale of exotic animals; he 2-1 also worked as a real estate broker, director of the Y.O. Land 2-2 and Cattle Company, and Woodbury Taxidermy; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Director of the Texas Wildlife Association and the 2-4 Exotic Wildlife Association and the founder of Texas Wildlife 2-5 Association Youth Hunt and Safari Club International's Apprentice 2-6 Hunters Program, Mr. Schreiner hoped to expose as many persons as 2-7 possible to his passion for exotic, wild animals; and 2-8 WHEREAS, A well-known community leader, Louis held memberships 2-9 in the First Presbyterian Church in Kerrville, the San Antonio German 2-10 Club, the Order of the Alamo, and Las Cazadores; and 2-11 WHEREAS, A man who possessed boundless energy and abundant 2-12 enthusiasm for his work and his heritage, Louis Schreiner embodied 2-13 the true Texas spirit; he leaves behind memories that will be 2-14 treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, 2-15 be it 2-16 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-17 77th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the family 2-18 of Louis Albert Schreiner II: his wife, Chrisie; his sons, 2-19 Louis Griffin, Lee Barton, and Luke Phillips; and his brothers, 2-20 Charles Schreiner IV, Walter R. Schreiner, and Gus L.
