 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 990
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
 1-4     recognizing Buck Jordan, who is retiring as president of the
 1-5     Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Buck Jordan joined the chamber as its executive
 1-7     director in 1984 and has provided the organization with outstanding
 1-8     leadership over the last 17 years; during his tenure, 13 major
 1-9     industries have made investments of $457 million in the area served
1-10     by the chamber, resulting in 3,500 new jobs for the community; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Mr. Jordan has overseen the construction of a new
1-12     chamber facility and has played a major role in making the chamber
1-13     a financially stronger organization; since he took office, the
1-14     chamber has grown from 200 members to just under 600 members; and
1-15           WHEREAS, A former city councilman, Buck Jordan was
1-16     appointed by Governor Ann Richards as a commissioner of the
1-17     Texas National Research Laboratory and was reappointed by then
1-18     Governor George W. Bush; he is the former chair of United Way
1-19     and Mobile Meals and was president of the Lions Club; he was
1-20     recognized in 1990 by the chamber as Outstanding Citizen of the
 2-1     Year; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman whose wisdom and guidance
 2-3     have contributed greatly to the effectiveness of the Waxahachie
 2-4     Chamber of Commerce, Buck Jordan was presented earlier this year
 2-5     with the Chamber Executive of the Year award at the annual
 2-6     conference of the Texas Association of Business and Chambers of
 2-7     Commerce; now, therefore, be it
 2-8           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-9     77th Legislature, hereby commend Buck Jordan on his hard work
2-10     and exceptional accomplishments and extend best wishes to him
2-11     on the retirement years ahead; and, be it further
2-12           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-13     him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
