 1-2                         SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1000
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas proudly commends
 1-4     Sally Daly for her longtime excellence in the field of teaching
 1-5     and for her exceptional work as an educator at Baker Middle School
 1-6     in Corpus Christi; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in
 1-8     English with a history minor from Southwest Texas State University;
 1-9     she later returned to Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi to
1-10     earn her Master of Science Degree in education, curriculum, and
1-11     instruction; and
1-12           WHEREAS, Throughout her long and distinguished career,
1-13     Sally Daly has worked in schools in California, Washington, D.C.,
1-14     and Texas, and has taught a variety of age levels and abilities;
1-15     and
1-16           WHEREAS, This beloved educator believes that teaching is a
1-17     privilege, and she works to help her students accept themselves,
1-18     expand their gifts, develop their curiosity, validate their
1-19     dreams, and acquire the requisite skills for succeeding in
1-20     life; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Her enthusiasm for her profession and
 2-1     commitment to her students is manifested in many ways; she
 2-2     stays after school daily for students who need tutoring or
 2-3     access to computers, gives parents her home telephone number
 2-4     should they have questions about their child's assignment, and
 2-5     attends student invitations to ballet recitals, Bar Mitzvahs,
 2-6     and Eagle Scout ceremonies; and
 2-7           WHEREAS, A certified gifted and talented instructor,
 2-8     Sally Daly gives her students challenging and innovative classroom
 2-9     experiences that help students recognize real-world applications
2-10     for in-class instruction; and
2-11           WHEREAS, Recognized many times over for her excellence
2-12     in teaching, she is the recipient of the Leon Jaworski Award
2-13     for Teaching Excellence in Law Focused Education; and
2-14           WHEREAS, Giving young persons a quality education is key
2-15     to producing informed, thoughtful, and well-rounded adults;
2-16     her efforts ensure that Texas students have the knowledge and
2-17     skills to make positive contributions to society, and all Texans
2-18     will benefit from her commitment to excellence in her profession;
2-19     now, therefore, be it
2-20           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-21     77th Legislature, hereby express its deepest appreciation to
2-22     Sally Daly for her contributions as an educator in Texas; and,
2-23     be it further
2-24           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 3-1     her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
