 1-2                         SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1027
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with
 1-4     employees at the Texas Department of Human Services in bidding
 1-5     farewell to their colleague, Katie DePitts, who is retiring after
 1-6     29 years of loyal and outstanding service to the people of this
 1-7     state; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, A 1971 graduate of Rice University, Katie currently
 1-9     lives in Houston; and
1-10           WHEREAS, As an employee of the Texas Department of Human
1-11     Services, Katie has consistently exhibited dedication to the
1-12     people she serves and exercised sound, professional judgment
1-13     in carrying out her duties; she is respected by her co-workers
1-14     for her knowledge, expertise, and experience; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Milestones in Katie's career include surviving the
1-16     Summer of 1979 SAVERR implementation and acting as Regional Form
1-17     1027 Coordinator, Regional Foster Care Coordinator, and Regional
1-18     Texas Health Steps Coordinator; she was also a participant on the
1-19     Texas Works Policy Clearance Committee for 15 years; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Named Regional Employee of the Quarter in 2000,
1-21     Katie DePitts has made valuable and lasting contributions to
1-22     the Texas Department of Human Services; many of her suggestions
 2-1     to help clarify policy were incorporated into the Texas Works
 2-2     Handbook; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, A woman of many interests and talents, Katie
 2-4     will continue to have many rich and rewarding experiences; an
 2-5     exceptional person who is cherished by many in state service,
 2-6     Katie will be dearly missed by all at the Texas Department of
 2-7     Human Services; now, therefore, be it
 2-8           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-9     77th Legislature, hereby express its sincere gratitude to
2-10     Katie DePitts for her years of service as an employee of the
2-11     Texas Department of Human Services and wish her best of luck
2-12     in her future endeavors; and, be it further
2-13           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
2-14     for her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
