1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1048 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in 1-4 recognizing Franklin S. Sanders, Jr., who is retiring May 31, 2001, 1-5 bringing to a close a career marked by 20 years of exceptional 1-6 service at 3M; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Franklin was the oldest of seven children born to 1-8 Franklin and Daisy Sanders; he graduated in 1961 from high school 1-9 in Dayton, Ohio; and 1-10 WHEREAS, He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1-11 1962; he served his country with distinction for 20 years and was 1-12 stationed in South Dakota, North Carolina, Arizona, and Utah and 1-13 completed two temporary assignments in Korea; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Mr. Sanders began his notable career with 3M in 1-15 1982; he contributed to the development and progress of the company 1-16 and earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues; and 1-17 WHEREAS, A strong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, 1-18 he served as an enthusiastic scoutmaster, committed to helping 1-19 young men develop into good and productive citizens; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Throughout his professional career, Franklin has 2-2 been supported by the love and companionship of his wife, Patricia; 2-3 they have three children and eight grandchildren; now, therefore, 2-4 be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-6 77th Legislature, hereby commend Franklin S.
