 1-2                         SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1050
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 1-4     recognize Linda L. Robertson, who is retiring after 15 years
 1-5     of loyal service with the Comal Independent School District and
 1-6     28 years in the field of education; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, Linda began her successful career in education as
 1-8     an elementary school teacher with the Port Neches Independent
 1-9     School District in 1968; she later served as a reading and remedial
1-10     math teacher and as a counselor with the Tuloso-Midway Independent
1-11     School District; she joined the Comal Independent School District
1-12     in 1986 as a second grade teacher and became a counselor at
1-13     Mountain Valley Elementary School in 1988; and
1-14           WHEREAS, In 1996, Mrs. Robertson began serving as a
1-15     counselor for Mountain Valley Intermediate School, where over
1-16     the last five years she has implemented a guidance program to help
1-17     students develop basic life skills, focusing on decision-making
1-18     and problem-solving skills; she has encouraged their sense of
1-19     responsibility and boosted their self-esteem; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Devoted to the district and to her work,
1-21     Mrs. Robertson has dedicated her time and energy to providing a
1-22     positive environment for students at Mountain Valley Intermediate
1-23     School; her far-reaching responsibilities have included training
 2-1     students in substance abuse prevention, conflict resolution, and
 2-2     violence prevention; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, At Mountain Valley Intermediate School,
 2-4     Mrs. Robertson has assisted with a wide array of student and
 2-5     faculty activities; she has served as a student council advisor,
 2-6     conducted mediations and counseling sessions in every classroom
 2-7     on a weekly basis, counseled students individually, and led
 2-8     motivational workshops for faculty and staff; and
 2-9           WHEREAS, An exemplary counselor and educator, Linda Robertson
2-10     has distinguished herself in her profession and has instilled in
2-11     her students a sense of pride and a lifelong love of learning; and
2-12           WHEREAS, On May 11, 2001, the Comal Independent School
2-13     District is presenting Mrs. Robertson with a Parent-Teacher
2-14     Association faculty lifetime membership award as a tribute to her
2-15     years of hard work and in appreciation for the positive influence
2-16     she has had on countless young people; now, therefore, be it
2-17           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-18     77th Legislature, hereby commend Linda L. Robertson for her
2-19     contributions to Comal Independent School District and to the
2-20     educational system of Texas and extend to her best wishes for
2-21     the retirement years ahead; and, be it further
2-22           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-23     her as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate.
