1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1064 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 1-4 recognize Lola Mae "Granny" (Wren) Land on the auspicious occasion 1-5 of her 100th birthday on May 12, 2001; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Born in Temple on May 12, 1901, Lola Mae was the 1-7 eldest of 11 children; although her husband predeceased her, she 1-8 was happily married for 55 years; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Mrs. Land is a beloved member of her community and 1-10 is noted for her exemplary enthusiasm and for living each day to 1-11 the fullest; and 1-12 WHEREAS, The mother of four children, Mrs. Land has 14 1-13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 28 great-great-grandchildren, 1-14 four great-great-great-grandchildren, and one 1-15 great-great-great-great-grandchild; and 1-16 WHEREAS, A resident of Brazoria County since 1940, she was 1-17 employed most of her life as a cook, and she loved cooking for her 1-18 family and friends; and 1-19 WHEREAS, A lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 1-20 of Freeport and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 3111, this 1-21 devout woman has also been a member of Brigance Road Baptist Church 1-22 for 30 years; Lola Mae's favorite phrase is, "I love everybody, 2-1 my God, and my church"; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Charming, knowledgeable, and wise, Mrs. Land is an 2-3 active woman with an engaging personality; and 2-4 WHEREAS, A genuine Texan, Mrs. Land is a woman of courage, 2-5 dignity, and caring, and she has given abundantly of her love and 2-6 wisdom to her family and friends; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-8 77th Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to 2-9 Lola Mae "Granny" (Wren) Land on her 100th birthday; and, 2-10 be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her 2-12 as a memento of this occasion and as an expression of the highest 2-13 regard of the Texas Senate. 2-14 Brown 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 President of the Senate 2-17 I hereby certify that the above 2-18 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-19 on May 16, 2001. 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 Secretary of the Senate 2-22 ______________________________________ 2-23 Member, Texas Senate
