 1-5                              Royal Wade Lorenz
 1-6           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins citizens
 1-7     of Stockdale and Lake Jackson in mourning the passing of
 1-8     Royal Wade Lorenz, who died May 8, 2001; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Mr. Lorenz was regional manager for Dow Chemical
1-10     USA and was active with the Texas Chemical Council in Austin;
1-11     respected for his industry knowledge, his expertise was solicited
1-12     by both the Texas Legislature and the United States Congress; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Born December 6, 1925, in Stockdale, Texas,
1-14     Mr. Lorenz completed his education at Texas A&M University,
1-15     where he ultimately earned a master's degree in economics; and
1-16           WHEREAS, During World War II, Mr. Lorenz served his country
1-17     faithfully in the United States Navy and flew combat missions along
1-18     the China Coast; during the Cold War, he was recalled to active
1-19     duty and assigned to a destroyer fleet patrolling the Mediterranean,
1-20     Caribbean, and North Atlantic; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Lorenz served as
 2-2     chairman of the Texas Good Roads Association, president of the
 2-3     Texas and South Texas Chambers of Commerce, and vice president
 2-4     of government relations for the Texas A&M University Former
 2-5     Students Association; and
 2-6           WHEREAS, Throughout his long and distinguished career,
 2-7     Mr. Lorenz received the steadfast support and love of his wife,
 2-8     Patsy Ruth McCloud Lorenz, whom he married on August 15, 1947;
 2-9     the couple lived in Lake Jackson for more than 30 years before
2-10     retiring to Stockdale; and
2-11           WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and goodwill,
2-12     Royal Wade Lorenz gave unselfishly of his time and talent
2-13     for the betterment of others; this devoted businessman and
2-14     community leader leaves behind memories that will be treasured
2-15     forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
2-16           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-17     77th Legislature, hereby send condolences to the family of
2-18     Royal Wade Lorenz:  his wife, Pat; his son, Clay; and his
2-19     sister, Betty; and, be it further
2-20           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as
2-21     an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and
2-22     that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-23     Royal Wade Lorenz.
