1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1112 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great 1-4 pleasure in recognizing Joyce Bayless for her 51 years of 1-5 dedicated service to the schoolchildren of Texas; and 1-6 WHEREAS, As a teacher, counselor, principal, and 1-7 administrator, Mrs. Bayless has played a significant role in 1-8 ensuring a high standard of education for all students with 1-9 whom she has worked, resulting in a positive influence on 1-10 countless young lives; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Noted for her hard work and dedication to her 1-12 young pupils, Mrs. Bayless began her notable career in 1948 as 1-13 a private teacher on the 3X Ranch in the Victoria area; after 1-14 two years of private instruction, she devoted the next 49 years 1-15 to the Texas public school system; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Through her achievements and abilities, 1-17 Mrs. Bayless contributed greatly to the progressive development 1-18 of various school districts around the state; her insightfulness 1-19 and dedication led the Rockdale Independent School District to 1-20 implement several innovative programs including "Blackboard 1-21 By Wire" and nursing education and community education; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Recognized for her expertise, she was often 1-23 called on to make presentations to groups such as the International 2-1 Special Education Conference, Summer Administrator's Conference, 2-2 District Parent Teacher Association, Region VII Fall Conference, 2-3 and Southwest Texas State University; and 2-4 WHEREAS, In addition, this respected educator wrote 2-5 Counselor's Handbook, Career Education, and Parents Count, 2-6 a PTA Workshop, and provided articles to Texas Outlook; and 2-7 WHEREAS, The varied background of this honor society Phi 2-8 Delta Kappa, Kappa Delta Pi, and Delta Kappa Gamma member earned 2-9 her a listing in Personalities of the South, Who's Who of American 2-10 Women, and Dictionary of International Biography; and 2-11 WHEREAS, With a caring demeanor and genuine concern for 2-12 developing natural talents and abilities, Mrs. Bayless positively 2-13 influenced countless young lives; her tireless efforts on behalf 2-14 of the schoolchildren of Texas are admirable and truly worthy of 2-15 legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-16 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-17 77th Legislature, hereby commend Joyce Bayless for her superb 2-18 contributions to the educational system of Texas with all best 2-19 wishes for the future; and, be it further 2-20 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-21 her as a token of esteem and high regard from the Texas Senate. 2-22 Ogden 2-23 ______________________________________ 2-24 President of the Senate 2-25 I hereby certify that the above 2-26 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-27 on May 21, 2001. 2-28 ______________________________________ 2-29 Secretary of the Senate 3-1 ______________________________________ 3-2 Member, Texas Senate
