1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1113 1-3 In Memory 1-4 of 1-5 William Eugene Ivey 1-6 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the 1-7 citizens of El Paso in mourning the loss of William Eugene Ivey, 1-8 who died May 11, 2001, at the age of 74; and 1-9 WHEREAS, A prominent real estate broker and land developer, 1-10 Mr. Ivey made notable contributions to his profession throughout 1-11 his long and productive career, and he will be deeply missed by 1-12 his family and many friends; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Born October 8, 1926, on the Ivey Dale Owen farm 1-14 in Fabens, Texas, he was the fifth of the seven sons of Marie Dolan 1-15 and K. B. Ivey; after completing his primary education at Incarnate 1-16 Word School and graduating from Ysleta High School in 1944, he 1-17 immediately enlisted in the United States Navy; and 1-18 WHEREAS, After he exchanged vows with Nell Drugan on 1-19 January 31, 1948, they moved to Bill's farm in the Fabens 1-20 area to provide a loving and secure home for their 11 surviving 1-21 children; and 1-22 WHEREAS, A devout Christian who lived his faith in his 2-1 daily life, Mr. Ivey was a member of the Roman Catholic Church 2-2 and was greatly admired for his generosity of spirit and his 2-3 dedication; and 2-4 WHEREAS, Distinguished and accomplished, Mr. Ivey lived 2-5 his life to the fullest and he leaves behind memories that will 2-6 be forever treasured by his family and friends; now, therefore, 2-7 be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-9 77th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the 2-10 family of William Eugene Ivey: his children, Michele Wahnsiedler, 2-11 Patricia Lettunich, Kathi McChristian, Teresa Orr, Bill Ivey Jr., 2-12 King Ivey, Paul Ivey, Nellie Kay McDowell, Gary Ivey, Warren Ivey, 2-13 and Paula Kesner; and his 25 grandchildren and eight 2-14 great-grandchildren; and, be it further 2-15 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-16 the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy 2-17 from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this 2-18 day, it do so in memory of William Eugene Ivey. 2-19 Shapleigh 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 President of the Senate 2-22 I hereby certify that the above 2-23 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-24 on May 21, 2001, by a rising vote. 2-25 ______________________________________ 2-26 Secretary of the Senate 2-27 ______________________________________ 2-28 Member, Texas Senate
