No. 1119 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-1 BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Texas, 77th 1-2 Legislature, Regular Session, 2001, That Senate Rule 12.03 be 1-3 suspended in part as provided by Senate Rule 12.08 to enable the 1-4 conference committee appointed to resolve the differences on Senate 1-5 Bill No. 1596, relating to the establishment and operation of the 1-6 Toward EXcellence, Access, & Success (TEXAS) grant II program, to 1-7 consider and take action on the following matter: 1-8 Senate Rule 12.03(1) is suspended to permit the committee to 1-9 amend proposed Subsection (g), Section 56.357, Education Code, to 1-10 read as follows: 1-11 (g) An institution may use other available sources of 1-12 financial aid, other than a loan or a Pell grant, to cover any 1-13 difference in the amount of a TEXAS grant II and the actual amount 1-14 of tuition and required fees at the institution. 1-15 Explanation: Subsection (g) is amended to conform to 1-16 Subsection (j), Section 56.307, Education Code, which provides that 1-17 a loan or Pell grant may not be used to cover any difference in the 1-18 amount of a TEXAS grant and the actual amount of tuition and 1-19 required fees at an institution.
