1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1120 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 1-4 recognize Captain Nancy E. Honey, who is leaving as base commander 1-5 of Naval Station Ingleside, the home port of the Navy's Mine 1-6 Warfare Command; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Since assuming command of Naval Station Ingleside 1-8 in June of 1997, Captain Honey has worked hard to make improvements 1-9 on the station and to raise it to the level of a first-class naval 1-10 facility; Captain Honey is being relieved during a traditional 1-11 change of command ceremony on May 25, 2001; and 1-12 WHEREAS, A native of Hannibal, Missouri, Captain Honey 1-13 earned a bachelor of science degree from Saint Mary's Dominican 1-14 College in New Orleans, Louisiana; following graduation, she 1-15 attended Officer Candidate School in Rhode Island and was 1-16 commissioned as an ensign; and 1-17 WHEREAS, During her tenure in the United States Navy, 1-18 Captain Honey was assigned to the staffs of the Naval Facility, 1-19 Antigua, British West Indies; the commander, Oceanographic Systems 1-20 Atlantic, Norfolk, Virginia; the Fleet Training Center, Norfolk; 1-21 the commander, Naval Oceanographic Processing Facility, Dam Neck, 1-22 Virginia; the commander, Area Anti-Submarine Warfare Forces, Sixth 2-1 Fleet, Naples, Italy; and the commander-in-chief, United States 2-2 Atlantic Fleet, Norfolk; she also completed an assignment to the 2-3 Secretary of Defense Fellows Program in Washington, D.C.; and 2-4 WHEREAS, Captain Honey's executive officer and command tours 2-5 include serving as executive officer of the Readiness Training 2-6 Facility, Dam Neck; executive officer of Naval Station, Norfolk; 2-7 commanding officer, Military Sealift Command Office, Southwest 2-8 Asia, in Manama, Bahrain; and commanding officer, Military Sealift 2-9 Command Office, BENELUX, in Rotterdam, The Netherlands; and 2-10 WHEREAS, Captain Honey's fields of expertise include 2-11 anti-submarine warfare operations, sea transportation, and shore 2-12 base management; she graduated from the Armed Forces Staff College 2-13 and earned a master's degree in engineering management from Old 2-14 Dominion University in Norfolk; and 2-15 WHEREAS, Captain Honey's next assignment will take her to 2-16 new horizons across the Bay of Corpus Christi, where she has 2-17 been assigned to the staff of the chief of the Naval Air Training 2-18 Command at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi; and 2-19 WHEREAS, Captain Honey is an exemplary officer who has 2-20 dedicated her life to serving her country, and South Texas is 2-21 fortunate to have her continued leadership in the Navy and in the 2-22 communities of our state; now, therefore, be it 2-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 3-1 77th Legislature, hereby commend Captain Nancy E.
