1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1124 1-3 In Memory 1-4 of 1-5 Joshua Wayne Brown 1-6 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens 1-7 of Lee County in mourning the tragic loss of Joshua Wayne Brown, 1-8 who died March 20, 2001, at the age of 17; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Born January 6, 1984, in Austin, Texas, Joshua Brown 1-10 was a resident of Blue, Texas, where he had lived since birth; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Joshua received his education from the Lexington 1-12 Independent School District and was a junior at Lexington High 1-13 School at the time of his death; he was a popular student who was 1-14 beloved by his classmates and teachers; he was involved in a number 1-15 of school activities and played drums with the high school band; 1-16 and 1-17 WHEREAS, A talented athlete and outdoors enthusiast, he 1-18 enjoyed basketball, swimming, tennis, golf, snow skiing, and 1-19 horseback riding; and 1-20 WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Joshua was a member of the 1-21 Blue United Methodist Church and had been baptized at the age of 1-22 10 at the Adnia Christian Church; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Joshua was an exemplary young man who strived for 2-2 excellence in all of his endeavors; he aspired to be a lawyer and 2-3 intended to study criminal law at Southwest Texas State University 2-4 or The University of Texas at Austin before attending law school; 2-5 and 2-6 WHEREAS, Joshua lived his life to the fullest and 2-7 was intelligent, warmhearted, and strong; he was devoted to 2-8 his parents, grandparents, and siblings, and he leaves behind 2-9 memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many 2-10 friends; now, therefore, be it 2-11 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-12 77th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the 2-13 bereaved family of Joshua Wayne Brown: his mother and 2-14 father, Gigi Wilson Brown and Todd Wayne Brown; his sister, 2-15 Sabrina Gail Cagle; his brother, Jeremy Kendrick Brown; his 2-16 paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Marie Brown; and his maternal 2-17 grandmother, Elizabeth Blakeney Wilson; and, be it further 2-18 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-19 the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy 2-20 from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, 2-21 it do so in memory of Joshua Brown. 2-22 Ogden 2-23 ______________________________________ 2-24 President of the Senate 2-25 I hereby certify that the above 2-26 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-27 on May 22, 2001, by a rising vote. 2-28 ______________________________________ 2-29 Secretary of the Senate 3-1 ______________________________________ 3-2 Member, Texas Senate
