 1-2                         SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1171
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
 1-4     recognize Charles Edward "Slick" Neal, who is retiring after
 1-5     18 years of outstanding work for the Texas Senate; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Slick began his career with the Texas Senate
 1-7     on January 13, 1983, and is retiring on August 31, 2001; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, For the last 18 years, Slick has handled his
 1-9     responsibilities at the Capitol with exceptional skill and
1-10     dedication; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Devoted to the Capitol and to his work, Slick Neal
1-12     has provided first-class maintenance of the Members' Lounge and
1-13     has given eagerly of his time and energy to cleaning the lounge,
1-14     serving food, and taking care of a wide variety of legislators'
1-15     needs; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Slick enjoys a well-deserved reputation for
1-17     dependability, high standards, and a friendly manner that has
1-18     endeared him to the hearts of the senators he serves so well; and
1-19           WHEREAS, A graduate of Anderson High School, Slick Neal is
1-20     a devoted family man, and throughout his career, he has enjoyed
1-21     the love and support of his wife, Zelma Neal, and his daughters,
1-22     Sidney Davis, Gwendolyn Whitley, and Deanda Wilson; and
1-23           WHEREAS, Slick Neal is an exemplary gentleman who is beloved
 2-1     and respected for his engaging personality, his loyalty, and his
 2-2     sense of humor, and his presence at the Capitol will be greatly
 2-3     missed; now, therefore, be it
 2-4           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-5     77th Legislature, hereby commend Charles Edward Neal for
 2-6     his invaluable contributions to the ambience of the Members'
 2-7     Lounge and the positive impact he has had on the lives of the
 2-8     legislators and extend to him best wishes for the retirement
 2-9     years ahead; and, be it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-11     him as an expression of appreciation and high regard from the
2-12     Texas Senate.
