                                  SENATE RESOLUTION
 1-1           BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Texas, 77th
 1-2     Legislature, Regular Session, 2001, That Senate Rule 12.03 be
 1-3     suspended in part as provided by Senate Rule 12.08 to enable the
 1-4     conference committee appointed to resolve the differences on Senate
 1-5     Bill No. 1119, relating to the regulation of bail bond sureties and
 1-6     providing a penalty, to consider and take action on the following
 1-7     specific matters:
 1-8           Senate Rule 12.03(1) is suspended to permit the committee to
 1-9     amend proposed Subsection (a), Section 1704.163, Occupations Code,
1-10     to change text not in disagreement to read as follows:
1-11           (a)  Except as provided by this section [Subsection (c)], a
1-12     person not licensed under this chapter may execute a bail bond or
1-13     act as a surety for another person in any county in this state if
1-14     the person:
1-15                 (1)  is licensed to practice law in this state; and
1-16                 (2)  represents the other person in the [a] criminal
1-17     case for which the bond was given.
1-18           Explanation:  The change is necessary to clarify how
1-19     attorneys are exempted from Chapter 1704, Occupations Code.
