1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1210 1-3 WHEREAS, On Armed Forces Day, May 19, 2001, the 1-4 City of Bullard dedicated the Bullard Area Veteran's Monument, 1-5 and this impressive structure is indeed a fitting tribute to the 1-6 city's many veterans who have proudly served their country through 1-7 the years; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Funded entirely with donations from Bullard 1-9 citizens, this one-of-a-kind monument is a 45,000-pound 1-10 five-granite triangle that lists the names of the more than 1-11 1,000 veterans from the city; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Bullard residents have been involved in most of 1-13 our nation's great conflicts, from the Civil War to the Gulf War; 1-14 despite its relatively sparse population during the 1940s, the 1-15 city was represented in World War II at Normandy, at the Battle 1-16 of the Bulge, and during the push into Germany; of the 29 men 1-17 from the area who lost their lives in combat, 15 made the 1-18 ultimate sacrifice during World War II; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Those who defend our nation's freedoms are truly 1-20 deserving of our highest respect and admiration, and the Bullard 2-1 Area Veteran's Monument is most certainly an appropriate way to 2-2 honor those individuals from Bullard who have given so much to 2-3 their fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-5 77th Legislature, hereby congratulate the City of Bullard on its 2-6 newly dedicated Bullard Area Veteran's Monument and extend to 2-7 all the city's veterans sincere appreciation for their dedicated 2-8 service to our state and nation. 2-9 Staples 2-10 ______________________________________ 2-11 President of the Senate 2-12 I hereby certify that the above 2-13 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-14 on May 25, 2001. 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 Secretary of the Senate 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 Member, Texas Senate
