 1-3                                  In Memory
 1-4                                     of
 1-5                           Quirino W. Saldana, Jr.
 1-6           WHEREAS, The Texas Senate joins the citizens of
 1-7     Corpus Christi in mourning the loss of Quirino W. Saldana, Jr.,
 1-8     who died on January 21, 2001, at the age of 68; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman was born in
1-10     Falfurrias, Texas, on September 17, 1932; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Mr. Saldana worked as a labor foreman for Kiesel
1-12     Construction Company for 45 years until his retirement; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Mr. Saldana was a member of the Labor Council for
1-14     Latin American Advancement, Tijuana Demarcates, and the American
1-15     G.I. Forum; and
1-16           WHEREAS, A respected and beloved member of his community,
1-17     Mr. Saldana will be remembered for his devotion to his family and
1-18     his friends; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Mr. Saldana was a devoted husband, father,
1-20     grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he was especially proud
1-21     of the accomplishments of each member of his family; and
1-22           WHEREAS, Quirino Saldana leaves a legacy of compassion
 2-1     and commitment to be cherished by all who shared his life; now,
 2-2     therefore, be it
 2-3           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-4     77th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
 2-5     members of the family of Quirino W. Saldana, Jr.:  his wife,
 2-6     Susie Luna-Saldana; his daughters, Laura Valdez, Maricela Montiel,
 2-7     Mary Lee Gonzales, and Kimberly Sue Saldana; his sister, Sara Lago;
 2-8     his brother, Alberto Cruz; and his five grandchildren and three
 2-9     great-grandchildren; and, be it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his
2-11     family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,
2-12     and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-13     Quirino W. Saldana, Jr.
