 1-5                             Margarito Tijerina
 1-6           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
 1-7     of Kingsville in mourning the passing of Margarito Tijerina, who
 1-8     died January 9, 2001, at the age of 73; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Known as a true patriot and gentleman who lived a
1-10     full and rewarding life, Mr. Tijerina leaves a legacy of devotion
1-11     and commitment to his family, his friends, and his country; and
1-12           WHEREAS, Born in Westhoff, Texas, on July 20, 1927, the
1-13     distinguished gentleman served his country valiantly from 1945 to
1-14     1948 as a military policeman for the United States Army in Germany;
1-15     and
1-16           WHEREAS, Continuing his commitment to serve his country,
1-17     Margarito Tijerina devoted 37 years of his life to working for
1-18     the Naval Air Base in Corpus Christi and Kingsville; the civilian
1-19     employee worked diligently to ensure the security of the country
1-20     he loved; and
1-21           WHEREAS, The devoted husband and father leaves behind
1-22     memories that will be forever cherished, and although he will
 2-1     be deeply missed his spirit will live on in the hearts of all
 2-2     who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it
 2-3           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-4     77th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
 2-5     bereaved family of Margarito Tijerina: his wife of 49 years,
 2-6     Rafaela Tijerina; his sons, David Tijerina, Roy Tijerina,
 2-7     Daniel Tijerina, and Oscar Tijerina; his daughters,
 2-8     Esther Garcia and Ida Olivarez; and his 15 grandchildren
 2-9     and one great-grandchild; and, be it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-11     the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
2-12     from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
2-13     day, it do so in memory of Margarito Tijerina.
