SENATE RESOLUTION
1-1 BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Texas, 77th
1-2 Legislature, Regular Session, 2001, That Senate Rule 12.03 be
1-3 suspended in part as provided by Senate Rule 12.08 to enable the
1-4 conference committee appointed to resolve the differences on Senate
1-5 Bill No. 409, relating to the powers and duties of the Texas
1-6 Turnpike Authority division of the Texas Department of
1-7 Transportation, to consider and take action on the following
1-8 matter:
1-9 Senate Rules 12.03(1) and 12.03(3) are suspended to permit
1-10 the committee to amend and add new text to Subdivision (4), Section
1-11 361.001, Transportation Code, as amended by Senate Bill No. 409, so
1-12 that Subdivision (4), Section 361.001, reads as follows:
1-13 (4) "Turnpike project" means a toll highway
1-14 constructed, maintained, or operated under this chapter as part of
1-15 the state highway system and any improvement, extension, or
1-16 expansion to the highway and includes:
1-17 (A) a facility to relieve traffic congestion and
1-18 promote safety;
1-19 (B) a bridge, tunnel, overpass, underpass,
1-20 interchange, entrance plaza, approach, toll house, service road,
1-21 ramp, or service station;
1-22 (C) an administration, storage, or other
1-23 building the authority considers necessary to operate the project;
1-24 [and]
1-25 (D) property rights, easements, and interests
2-1 the authority acquires to construct or operate the project;
2-2 (E) a parking area or structure, rest stop,
2-3 park, and any other improvement or amenity the authority considers
2-4 necessary, useful, or beneficial for the operation of a turnpike
2-5 project; and
2-6 (F) a toll-free facility that is appurtenant to
2-7 and necessary for the efficient operation of a turnpike project,
2-8 including a service road, access road, ramp, interchange, bridge,
2-9 and tunnel.
