 1-2                         SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1266
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 1-4     recognize Dr. Terry L. Dicianna, who has recently accepted
 1-5     the position of Vice President of Extended Academic Services
 1-6     and Interim Provost with the University of the Incarnate Word
 1-7     in San Antonio; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Former President of Del Mar College in
 1-9     Corpus Christi, Dr. Dicianna arrived at Del Mar College
1-10     in June, 1995, bringing many ideas for improvements to the
1-11     college; and
1-12           WHEREAS, Dr. Dicianna introduced e-mail, the Internet,
1-13     and distance learning instruction while at Del Mar College;
1-14     he developed the Business Development Center for customized
1-15     training, and he authored an early retirement incentive program
1-16     which saved the college $2.5 million; and
1-17           WHEREAS, A gifted and resourceful gentleman, Dr. Dicianna
1-18     guided the school into the technological age; he also met the
1-19     need for revenue by obtaining bonds to have the Solomon Coles
1-20     Building completed; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Called a strong leader by members of the board
 2-1     of regents of Del Mar College, Terry L. Dicianna has appreciated
 2-2     the fellowship and genuine support of the staff, faculty, and
 2-3     students of Del Mar College; and
 2-4           WHEREAS, Believing strongly in returning value to his
 2-5     community, Dr. Dicianna was a member of the Corpus Christi Chamber
 2-6     of Commerce and on the board of directors of the Business and
 2-7     Education Coalition of the chamber, was on the Executive Board of
 2-8     the Gulf Coast Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and served on
 2-9     the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army; and
2-10           WHEREAS, Among his professional associations, Dr. Dicianna
2-11     is a member of the Texas Association of Community Colleges, a
2-12     member of the TACC/Starlink, developing the Virtual College of
2-13     Texas, and is the South Texas Regional Director of the Texas
2-14     Public Junior and Community College Employee Benefit Consortium;
2-15     and
2-16           WHEREAS, Dr. Dicianna enhanced the quality of education
2-17     in Corpus Christi and the State of Texas in countless ways, and
2-18     he is indeed worthy of legislative recognition; now, therefore,
2-19     be it
2-20           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-21     77th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Terry L. Dicianna on his
2-22     outstanding service in education to the citizens of Corpus Christi
2-23     and the State of Texas and extend to him warmest best wishes for
2-24     his challenging endeavor in his new position with the University
 3-1     of the Incarnate Word; and, be it further
 3-2           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 3-3     Dr. Terry L. Dicianna as an expression of highest regard from
 3-4     the Texas Senate.
