The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure by increasing the
punishment by one degree for adult offenders convicted of using a child
in the commission of certain drug offenses under the Texas Controlled
Substances Act.
The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of
two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, otherwise, the bill
would take effect September 1, 2001.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
