LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session April 30, 2001 TO: Honorable Kenneth Armbrister, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB156 by Homer (Relating to the punishment for certain offenses under the Texas Controlled Substances Act committed by a person using a child to facilitate the commission of the offense.), As Engrossed ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure by increasing the punishment by one degree for adult offenders convicted of using a child in the commission of certain drug offenses under the Texas Controlled Substances Act. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2001.
