LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session April 30, 2001 TO: Honorable Juan Hinojosa, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB225 by Wise (Relating to the prosecution and punishment of offenses related to prostitution.), As Introduced ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The provision of the bill that is the subject of this analysis would amend the Penal Code by enhancing the punishment for the offense of promotion of prostitution from a Class A misdemeanor to a felony of the third degree if the prostitute is a person younger than 18 years of age. The bill would also create the offense of parental responsibility which would be punishable as a felony of the third degree.
