Fiscal Analysis
The bill would exempt reserve peace officers in counties below 20,000 in
population from licensing requirements under the Private Security Act.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2001.
Methodology
The Commission on Private Security (CPS) estimates that 139 Letters of
Authority and 278 Security Officer Commissions would no longer be
applied for as a result of the provisions of this bill. Based on the
fee rates that CPS charges, the agency estimates an annual loss to
General Revenue of $52,800.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
