The bill would amend the Penal Code by enhancing the punishment for the
offense of evading arrest or detention by one penalty grade based on
whether the actor uses a vehicle, has been previously convicted under
this section, or causes injury to another as a result of evading arrest.
The bill would also amend the Transportation Code by suspending the
driver's license for two years of persons convicted of the offense of
evading arrest or detention.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
