The bill would amend the Penal Code by increasing the punishment for the
offense of stalking from a Class A misdemeanor to a felony of the third
degree. In cases where the actor has previously been convicted of the
offense of stalking, the bill would increase the punishment from a
felony of the third degree to a felony of the second degree.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
