The bill would provide procedures for trial courts to transfer defendants
acquitted of an offense by reason of insanity to an appropriate court
for civil commitment proceedings.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2001.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
