The bill would amend Chapter 311 of the Tax Code, relating to the Tax
Increment Financing Act. The bill would require that the Comptroller's
Office maintain a central registry of reinvestment zones designated under
Chapter 311. Further, the Comptroller and the Texas Department of
Economic Development would be allowed to provide assistance, on request,
to cities concerning reinvestment zones and Tax Increment Financing.

The Comptroller's Office currently maintains a central registry of
reinvestment zones designated under Chapter 312, Tax Code (Property
Redevelopment and Tax Abatement Act), and anticipates no additional
fiscal impact as a result of the bill. The Department of Economic
Development currently provides similar technical assistance and also
anticipates no additional fiscal impact as a result of the bill.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
