LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session May 9, 2001 TO: Honorable David Sibley, Chair, Senate Committee on Business & Commerce FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB612 by Maxey (Relating to the preparation and submission of certain reports by municipalities and the comptroller of public accounts under the Tax Increment Financing Act.), As Engrossed ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill would amend Chapter 311 of the Tax Code, relating to the Tax Increment Financing Act. The bill would require that the Comptroller's Office maintain a central registry of reinvestment zones designated under Chapter 311. Further, the Comptroller and the Texas Department of Economic Development would be allowed to provide assistance, on request, to cities concerning reinvestment zones and Tax Increment Financing. The Comptroller's Office currently maintains a central registry of reinvestment zones designated under Chapter 312, Tax Code (Property Redevelopment and Tax Abatement Act), and anticipates no additional fiscal impact as a result of the bill. The Department of Economic Development currently provides similar technical assistance and also anticipates no additional fiscal impact as a result of the bill. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
