LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session April 27, 2001 TO: Honorable Juan Hinojosa, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB810 by McReynolds (Relating to the penalties for making a false bomb threat and committing an offense involving a hoax bomb.), As Introduced ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill would amend the Penal Code by enhancing the punishment for the offense of false alarm or report from a state jail felony to a felony of the third degree if the false report is an emergency involving a public primary or secondary school, public communications, public transportation, public water, gas, or power supply or other public service. The bill would also enhance the punishment for the offense of hoax bombs from a Class A misdemeanor to a felony of the third degree.
