"Buster" Brown, Chair, Senate Committee on Natural Resources FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB829 by Hill (Relating to the eligibility of certain areas for certain colonia funding programs.), As Engrossed ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill would add a definition to the Water Code for nonborder colonias and provide that those areas would be eligible for grants or loans for projects relating to water, wastewater, retail distribution of those services, and basic utility services. Provisions of the bill would also authorize the colonia initiatives coordinator to coordinate state outreach efforts to nonborder colonias and political subdivisions capable of providing water and wastewater services to those areas.
