LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session February 22, 2001 TO: Honorable Juan Hinojosa, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB878 by Allen (Relating to the offenses of criminal trespass and theft of service at a hotel.), As Introduced ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill would amend the Penal Code by creating the offense of criminal trespass at a hotel which would be punishable as a Class B misdemeanor, unless the actor carries a deadly weapon, in which event the offense is a Class A misdemeanor. The bill would also amend the Penal Code by including failure to provide full compensation for occupying a hotel room under the theft of service offense provision.
