               exemption from ad valorem taxation on the homestead of a

The bill would amend Section 11.43 of the Tax Code to require that the
application form for a homestead exemption include a space in which the
applicant could indicate his or her date of birth.  Chief appraisers
would be required to mail to persons turning 65, as determined from the
above form, a homestead exemption application form to allow the person
to qualify for the 65-and-over homestead exemption.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
