LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session May 11, 2001 TO: Honorable Frank Madla, Chair, Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB887 by Ramsay (Relating to the application for an exemption from ad valorem taxation on the homestead of a person who is 65 or older.), As Engrossed ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill would amend Section 11.43 of the Tax Code to require that the application form for a homestead exemption include a space in which the applicant could indicate his or her date of birth. Chief appraisers would be required to mail to persons turning 65, as determined from the above form, a homestead exemption application form to allow the person to qualify for the 65-and-over homestead exemption.
