The bill would require county tax assessors-collectors to collect the additional fee during the registration process and forward the amount to the Comptroller for deposit in the General Revenue Fund in a new dedicated Tertiary Care account. Under the provisions of the bill, appropriations made from revenues deposited in the new account could only be made for the Texas Department of Health. The bill would take effect September 1, 2001. Methodology The Texas Department of Transportation registered approximately 17.2 million vehicles during fiscal year 2000. It is assumed that 17.7 million vehicles would be registered in fiscal year 2002 and that this amount would increase by approximately 1.7 percent each year. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
