Similar fiscal implications would continue as long as the provisions of the bill remain in effect. This bill would take effect September 1, 2001. Methodology The annual cost to the state for the salary and benefits of a district attorney under the Professional Prosecutors Act is $117,259 and the annual cost for the salary and benefits of a district attorney who may practice law is $95,404. The current cost to the state for the salary and benefits of the district attorney for the 83rd Judicial District is $95,404. There would be no change in office expense or travel allowance.
