LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session
February 27, 2001
TO: Honorable Irma Rangel, Chair, House Committee on Higher
Education
FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE: HB1029 by Wilson (Relating to the implementation of an
on-campus provisional admission program at The University
of Texas at Austin.), As Introduced
**************************************************************************
* No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. *
**************************************************************************
The bill re-establishes the provisional admission program at The
University of Texas at Austin.
The institution may incur increased costs to implement the program.
However, this estimate assumes that students attending The University of
Texas at Austin under the provisional program would have attended other
state institutions. Therefore, the costs would have been incurred at
another state institution and would not result in additional enrollment
costs to the state.
Although The University of Texas at Austin may incur additional
administrative costs to implement the provisional program, no significant
impact to the state is anticipated.
Because of capacity concerns, The University of Texas at Austin may be
obliged to revise admission policies in order to accommodate the
provisional students.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
