Fiscal Analysis
The bill would require the Sunset Advisory Commission to study the
district boundaries of the state courts of appeals and recommend whether
the boundaries should be redrawn to equalize the workload among the
courts of appeals or eliminate or reduce overlapping territorial
jurisdiction between the courts. The Sunset Commission must report the
results of its study and its recommendations to the presiding officer of
each house of the legislature, to the Senate Jurisprudence Committee,
and to the House Committee on Judicial Affairs not later than November
1, 2002.
Methodology
The Sunset Commission estimates they will need two additional staff to
study the district boundaries of the state courts of appeals plus their
associated costs, travel, and production costs.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
