LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE, 77th Regular Session
March 30, 2001
TO: Honorable Paul Sadler, Chair, House Committee on Public
Education
FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE: HB1055 by Coleman (Relating to participation by private
school students in University Interscholastic League
sponsored activities.), As Introduced
**************************************************************************
* No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. *
**************************************************************************
The bill prohibits the University Interscholastic League (UIL) from
denying participation in UIL events to certain private schools by virtue
of their being private. To be eligible to participate in such events,
however, a private school must meet specific criteria. It is assumed
that relatively few private schools would meet the criteria outlined in
the legislation.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
