educational aides from the payment of tuition and fees at
institutions of higher education.), As Introduced

* No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. *

* The General Appropriations Bill, as filed, includes a rider *
* increasing the transfer from the Texas Education Agency to the *
* Coordinating Board (THECB) for this and other tuition credit *
* programs. In the Bill, as filed, the THECB Educational Aide *
* Program strategy is increased from $1 million to $2 million a year *
* to reflect the increase in the rider transfer. Therefore, any *
* costs resulting from this bill are already provided for in the *
* Bill, as filed. *

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board estimates that the number
of participants in the program will double from 1,700 to 3,400, if the
bill is passed.
Local Government Impact
School districts may realize additional costs to provide financial
incentives to educational aides. However, no significant fiscal
implication to units of local government is anticipated.
