Local Government Impact

The bill would authorize an incorporated city or town that meets certain
criteria and has a population of less than 35,000 that is located in two
counties, both of which have a population between 400,000 and 1.75
million, and one of the counties contains a city or town with a
population of 400,000 or more, to hold a local option election regarding
the sale of wine for off-premise consumption only.

An eligible city or town would incur the costs of the local option
election. Based on a sampling of calendar year 2000 election per
registered voter costs reported by the Secretary of State, the cost of
the election would be approximately $0.91 per registered voter.
